Learning Through Experience

learning

As a mother and a teacher, the one thing I have learned is that children learn through experience; hands-on learning opportunities that show up throughout the day. Practices such as becoming book smart, counting and simple everyday skills are best acquired through fun everyday activities; moments teachers like to call “learning opportunities”. Learning through experience is the best way for your child to internalize any concept.

My son loves to be outside and explore, and there is no better place to collect treasures and count them than outside. We love to go into the backyard and find stones, leaves, or snail shells to count. This is a great way to spend quality time together and learn all at once.

Remember as busy mothers, we have to maximize our time with our children, and I think that creating learning opportunities is a great way to make our time together truly enriching.
